Red Rose

OMG! It smells sooooo GOOD!

Cross Ties

Shadow did great in cross ties for the first time. He kept trying to bite the rope, but he will learn.

Shadow

Stormy did great for his first time too. He gets a little impatient, but that’s to be expected.

Night Turn Out

Last night was the first night my little kids started night turn out. Their white/pink noses are starting to sun burn, so now they will be inside during the heat of the day. Of course I was a nervous nelly last night, worried sick about them and up at midnight thinking I was hearing dogs barking. So out to the pastures I went, at midnight, to check on everyone. My hubby is such a good sport! And of course everyone was fine and happily munching on grass. I worry about coyotes, but this time of year there is easier critters for them to eat. I will bring the little kids back in at night again starting in the fall. Plus we have really good fencing, cross fencing, and hot wire on top.

The big kids have been on 24/7 turnout, but starting today Scarlett will be on night turn out only. Her nose is getting sun burnt too. So now Riffics will be the only one on 24/7 turnout, unless it gets really hot this summer and I bring him in for a few hours. And of course weather permitting...... they are all spoiled, what can I say?!

I have read the grass at night turn out has lower sugar content so that’s an added bonus.

They must have been partying like rock stars all night long because right after breakfast they all laid down for a nap!

Shadow - Day 1 - harness training

Day 1 of harness training. Shadow did great! He is such a smart little boy and a quick learner.

Stormy - silver dapple

Stormy is just so darn cute! His coloring is really COOL!! His coloring is a silver dapple and he also has two blue eyes. When I first clip him, he is a light silver color. As the weeks go by, he gets darker and darker. This past winter he turned a light brown. He is just so beautiful!

Lazy Pony

Stormy just napping and being a lazy little pony. Isn’t he the cutest little thing!? I clipped him the beginning of March thinking I would be showing him, but with the craziness of the Coronavirus ALL the shows have been canceled. Bummer! It was 40 degrees this morning, the middle of April! Since he is clipped, Stormy gets very cold and he starts to shiver if the temperature is below 55 degrees, so he gets to be all warm and snuggly in his new blanket.

Riffics & Scarlett

Riffics & Scarlett running around like crazy horses!

The Barn Cats

All the barn cats LOVE pup!! Lacy is the sweetest dog, so gentle, not one mean bone in her little body. She is such a loyal dog, but I guess that is one of the things labs are known for.

Smokey Bear, Cheddar, Lacy

Sox, Lacy

I stole Cheddar from his mom, a feral cat, at 3 weeks of age. Cheddar doesn’t move too fast and he hardly ever leaves the barn because he is so fat! He doesn’t really like other cats, but is learning to tolerate them. I saw him once chance a cricket, but that’s it, just the one time. He just mostly sleeps and eats.

Cheddar

Smokey Bear was a stray that came to us at our last house. I told him if he stayed at our house for one week then I would keep him, needless to say he stayed. He is the sweetest, most friendliest cat we have. He isn’t scared of people at all. If he sees a stranger, he’ll walk right up and insist to be petted. His long  hair is so soft, silky, and beautiful! He will hunt a little, but loves following me around the ranch.

Smokey Bear

Sox showed up in our barn last Christmas, so of course I thought Santa brought him to me, but it was unknowingly our septic guy. Sox was a stow away and rode under the hood of the truck all the way from Whitney! He is the attack cat of the ranch, always trying to attack any stray dogs that may pass by which is surprising because he is so small. Sox is all kitten and is constantly playing. He loves to eat butterflies, hunts frogs, and has actually caught a bird! He is most definitely the best hunter we have! He also enjoys following me around the ranch.

Google Earth

Our Ranch is finally on Google Earth, woohoo! It isn’t on Google Maps yet though.

The Horses

Terrific’s Delicious Reward
Riffics is now 21 years old! He is my very first horse, I got him when he was only 8 years old. He is a 16 hand quarter horse. He will always have a special place in my heart. He is loving retirement and bossing Scarlett around.

Scarlett’s Diamond in the Rough
Scarlett is my 8 year old little beauty queen! She is the only riding horse we have now at the ranch. She is an awesome little welsh pony mare with two blue eyes, standing at 13.3 hands. She hates winter and dislikes the cold weather. I enjoy riding her most days in my arena. She is a very special girl, a true diamond in the rough!

Major Black Ice
Shadow is a 2 year old mini horse that I gelded the second day I got him. He is in training to be a driving horse. I won’t be hooking up the cart for another year or so. He stands about 35 inches tall and has two blue eyes. He has the sweetest personality, he is very respectful, and tries hard to please. He is very mature for his age.

Prickly Pear’s Honey Berry
Stormy is a 2 year old mini horse gelding. He is the cutest little thing with two blue eyes and standing at about 31 inches tall. He is kinda like your bratty little brother, but I just love him to death. He needs to mature a little more before he goes into training for hunter jumper. With his snuggly personality, I think he would make a great therapy horse and I hope one day he’ll be able to visit people in nursing homes.

Little America’s My Clear Signal
Breezy was just born March 29, my birthday, and will be coming soon. Stay tuned!

Almost BBFs... Best Buds Forever.... Almost

Two weeks ago I brought Shadow home. You wouldn’t know it by this video, but he is the sweetest little horse. I turned Stormy and Shadow out together a few days later and Shadow acted like he wanted to kill Stormy.

Today is the first day Shadow and Stormy were turned out together for the entire day. After being across the fence for about two weeks I thought it was time. Stormy stayed far away from Shadow. Whenever I go into the pasture, Stormy runs up behind me and hinds! It is the cutest thing! What horse does that?? He is full of personality.
