Christmas Day

 Since Dave left for a trip today I took Stormy to TRT Main Park for a Christmas drive. Dave usually works every Christmas so I am usually out with horses doing something fun. Luckily it turned out to be a beautiful day with a high of 50 degrees. I was debating whether I should drive Stormy or Breezy at the park today and decided to take Stormy for a nice and relaxing drive plus I didn’t want to over do it with Breezy. And I am so glad I took Stormy! A man’s German shepherd got off its leash and ran straight for us. I saw it coming and quickly got out of the cart. Stormy handled it like the little champ he is! He didn’t bolt or do anything stupid, he did flinch but that is to be expected because the dog was in his face after all. My neighbors dog is always charging the fence barking at the horses, so Stormy is desensitized to this, but when it happens away from home and with unfamiliar dogs you just never know how things will turn out. I did get my kicking leg ready and was about to kick the dog but it ended up on the opposite side and the man was pretty quick to retrieve him. I really need to have my mace ready at a moments notice because that could have turned out really bad especially with the bayou having such steep banks right next to the trail. If we started to head down the banks of the bayou we would probably end up in the river, I don’t think Stormy would be able to stop us once we get going down hill, he is just too small. Other than that our drive through the park was fun and uneventful.

Merry Christmas Eve

 We had Dave’s parents over for Christmas Eve dinner. Dave made his famous lasagna and it turned out fabulous.

Having the best Christmas Eve ever! Dave surprised me with this picture of Riffics that he had put on a banner. The perfect gift, he is so thoughtful and so sweet!! He hung it up for me today in Riffics stall. Riffics will probably spook when he walks in and sees himself LOL LOL

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

 ‘‘Twas right before feeding, and all through the barn,

Ponies were stirring and raising a ruckus on the farm.

They were jumping and prancing, rearing with wild hair.

With the thought of that sweet hay, soon to be there.

I grab the feed and and buckets a plenty,

While I know that Stormy’s thinking “Criminey, woman. Hurry up already!”

Open the gate and down the aisle they come.

They stop in their tracks while I exclaim, “Hey, where’d that cat come from?”

A little grey kitty came to us in need.

And Riffic’s eyes roll while he thinks, “Oh great, another mouth before me!”

“Come on owner, bring that food over to us!”

“It’s just a cat, what’s all the fuss?”

This little one is special, Storms and Breeze don’t seem to mind.

They nudge her and snuggle her, being very gentle and kind.

You see, two ponies left this year and they’re living on new farms,

Thunder and Nova are out making friends with their sweet charms.

They may be gone but it looks like to me,

One has returned in the form of a sweet kitty.

Coincidence, maybe. But I do believe.

There might have been more to this,

“Hey What was the noise from the eave?”

We rush outside and see the reindeer and sleigh,

Fly away from the barn as we heard him say.

“Welcome the little one back, she will make your heart thump.”

“That sweet kitty is Nova. Not Thunder, the grump.”

Christmas Trees

Dave and I love the holiday season and we just love our Christmas Trees! A few years ago we decided to buy a couple of table top trees instead of one big Christmas tree, what a great decision! It not only feels a little more modern and less cluttered but they are so easy to put up and take down. I stow the trees in a closet and I leave them set up with the ornaments on. It doesn’t get any easier than that! They are so bright and cheery! We have some very meaningful ornaments as well. We have the cork from the wine bottle from our wedding night, cat collars from kitties who are no longer with us, of course some airplanes and we try to find ornaments that remind us of our pets. The holidays is such a special time for us. Happy holidays from our barn to yours!

Bad weather today: extremely STORMY & BREEZY

 It was extremely STORMY here all morning long and it was very BREEZY too! Tornados North of Fort Worth… that could be my next pony… TORNADO!  Finally stopped raining… RAINING … so I was able to let the boys out for a while, what a dreary day.

 My neighbors kitten “Gray Kitty” was attacked by her dogs the other day. She probably thought all dogs are as sweet as Lacy. Luckily she escaped uninjured but was covered in dog slobber, poor baby.

When I drive Breezy he really does get my heart beating! He likes to go!! And boy do we go fast for such a tiny little pony. It is a good thing he is well trained and listens to my instructions. He tries to please me and looks to me as his leader. He is such a good boy, oh my heart!

My neighbors barn kittens never leave my barn! And I’m not complaining, I love them! I think she did it on purpose…. I mean she know I have black and silver horses after all. LOL LOL I was trying not to get too attached so I just called them Black Kitty and Silver Kitty but since they are ALWAYS here I think they need actual names. Meet Nova and Thunder.

Van Spa Day

 My van went into the dealer for some serious service. It had an oil change, all fluids flushed, new tires, windshield resealed, serpentine belt replaced and we ordered another key. They only thing that they were unable to do is hook up lights so a trailer could be pulled, which was very disappointing. Dave says he thinks he can get the harness and hook it up himself so fingers crossed.

Breezy - Big Sandy

 I finally got to take Breezy camping over the weekend and we had a blast! We went to Alert Academy in Big Sandy, TX, which was about 2 and a half hours away. The facility was nice, they had electric and water at the campsites. They also had a beautiful barn so I was able to stall Breezy at night. My friend Julie and her mini Hollee also got to come for the weekend.  The weather was chilly at 28 degrees overnight but we survived. The van worked out perfectly, I absolutely LOVE it. I see many more camping trips in our future and I can’t wait!

Nova - 8 months

 Nova is 8 months today! She measures at 27 inches tall. She must be having a growth spurt, her hiney is taller than her withers and she might be wider than she is tall. She is getting along really well with the boys. They all stay out together 24/7 and the boys don’t pick on her too much. I love her little trot, it is just adorable!

Nova - Happy Halloweenie

 Dear Horse Friends,

Mommy keeps telling me how fat I am, she is so rude. Her and the doctor even discussed it a few weeks ago. They just talked about me like I wasn’t even there, I could hear every word they said. They both are so not politically correct, I am not fat! I am pleasantly plump. And thanks to that mean doctor lady I no longer get any of that yummy grain, I feel like I’m starving! Could someone please send some Halloween candy my way?? Mommy won’t let me go trick or treating by myself tonight, she says there are crazy dogs out there that would love to eat little girls.

I got to wear my Halloween costume today! Im so cool! Mommy went to tighten the strap under my belly… I mean, yeah, I just had a big breakfast of hay so my tummy was a little bloated, but seriously I am not fat. Anyways, I didn’t like how she was tightening the belly strap thingy, a girls gotta breathe you know, so I tried to bite her. Mommy is getting fast and missed my teeth, I’ll need to up the ante. She did lecture me AGAIN on how biting isn’t allowed but she doesn’t lecture Mr. Grumpy pants when he tries to bite me.

I just want to wish everyone a very spooky HAPPY HALLOWEENIE!! I just love this whole Halloween thing!

15 Years of Bliss

 Dave and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary on Oct 22. We had a wonderful anniversary week by doing something really special everyday..… anniversary month really. We went to the botanical gardens in Fort Worth then had a night out on the town.

Dave and I are hosting the “Future Fabricator” award at MCACN this year. We are giving away a welder plus all the accessories to someone under the age 25. Dave even made this award! It turned out really cool.
